KRG Cannot Afford Nawroz Celebrations' Budget

Image

Kurdistan Region: leaving the late days of February and stepping into March, the king of the months is always needs a lot of work unlike the other months of the year as it's month of occasions and festivals.

Annually, KRG and the people of the region, at least one month before its due, prepare themselves and provide enough money to celebrate the month fully especially Nawroz/ New Year in the Kurdish calendar, which is on March 21.

According to the government announcements the 2014 celebrations are going to be different and not so much fun as the previous Nawroz celebrations because of the Budget issues that KRG faces.

In a special statement to PUKmedia, Hama Rahim, the Director of the Tourism Affairs said," KRG stops its activates and will not going to provide us a special budget for the Nawroz preparations as Baghdad has not send us the budget yet , therefore, 2014 Nawroz preparations will be only the security preparation."

Why is Kurdistan short of money - because of the cheating Iraqi Arabs X(

KRG to provide March and February`s salary without having received budget from Iraq

Today, February 23, 2014, PM Nechirvan Barzani gathered with Kurdish MPs and ministers in the Iraqi government and Kurdistan Parliament MPs. The meeting featured talks about the outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad.

In the meeting, KRG announced that it is able to provide March and February`s salaries for its employees, but if Iraq insists to send revenue, then KRG will have to sell and export oil to provide salary and income for its people until the current issues are settled.

Regarding the subject, Dr. Kherulla Hassan, Iraqi Minister of Trade, told PUKmedia that Kurdistan Region`s 17% share of budget is an undeniable right according to the constitution. The minister demands that the Iraqi Minister of Finance should be tried for cutting Kurdistan Region`s budget and leaving people of Kurdistan Region suffer a crisis of lack of income.

The meeting also covered some other important aspects between KRG and the Federal Government, such as Kurdistan Region`s offer to form a mutual committee between the two sides to supervise oil export and sale in Kurdistan Region until legal modifications are made inside SOMO, Iraqi Ministry of Oil`s official corporation for importing petroleum products and exporting crude oil.

KRG also offered to transit oil income money that is kept in the DFI box back to Kurdistan Region`s banks, and it is currently awaiting Baghdad`s response.

Worth mentioning, these demands proposed by KRG will be brought into discussion with the Iraqi government through the Kurdish ministers in Mr. Al-Maliki`s cabinet in the next meeting of the Iraqi Council of Ministers.

"The radical Islamist groups have no ties to Islam"
Monday, 21 April 2014 13:34

KOBANÊ - President of Committe of Religious Affairs in Kobanê Canton Mihemed Dahir stated that attacks of radical Islamist groups on the region and Rojava have no ties to Islam.

Dahir answered the Hawar News Agency's questions regarding the latest wave of attacks against Kobanê. Dahir remarked that Islamis State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) uses Islamic values for propaganda. "However, says Dahir, everybody sees that the ISIS kills civilians and destroy peace in the society. Theses kind of groups came to the region to create new sectarian and ethnic conflicts and unfortunately they claim that they do this based on Islam."
