Kirkuk Governor discusses political situation in Iraq with McGurkThe Governor of Kirkuk, Dr. Najmaden Kareem, met today, at the headquarters of the U.S. consulate in Erbil, with Brett McGurk Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Middle East and Iraq.
McGurk congratulated the success of the elections in Kirkuk during the meeting which was attended by the US Consul General in Erbil, Mr Joseph Pennington and Stephen Gee U.S. consul in Kirkuk.
The political situation in Kirkuk, Iraq, the formation of the Kurdistan Regional Government, the relationship between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, the issue of the export of oil from Kurdistan Region, the formation of the new Federal Government and the problems faced by political forces were key issues discussed during the meeting.
