WOW

Such beautiful pictures! I am astonished at how beautiful some of them realy are... Truly one must sit and admire them... =D>

Here is my contribution to making this thread more interesting:

Hesen Şerîf - "Beyta Laleş" music clip @ YouTube

And

Bilind Ibrahîm - "Wey Dil" music clip @ YouTube

And

Koma Zerdeştê Kal - "Em Zerdeştîne" music clip @ YouTube

And

Xemdar - "Şerfedîne" music clip @ YouTube

These are all Êzidî singers - singing songs about the Êzidî faith...

Content of videos:
#1) Shows many of their rituals in Laleş (baptizing, praying, lighting the fires etc.)
#2) Êzidî boys and girls dancing in their traditional clothes
#3) Sings about Tawûsê Melek (they call themselves "Zerdeştî" - but in their eyes it's the same as being Êzidî)
#4) Traditional Êzidî song about their faith - shows footage from Şêxan

Thank you Sicpit - a dozen times - for those beautiful pictures! May I have your permission to post them on another forum? :)

They are not my pictures, they were either fowarded to me through email, or I saved them on my computer using the mighty right click :) So that being said, of course you can show these pictures to whomever you like.

I love Hesen Sherif, I downloaded a bunch of his songs on a kurdish website, really good music. Bilind ibrahim I don't know to much, but I love the song we dilo.

My friend told me that Hesen was a Muslim though, and that Beyta Lalish was a song in tribute of kurdish religion, Yezidi. I don't know because I can't understand a thing he is saying :(

I have an account with a very dead forum(for english) called Ezdi.info, well I randomly got a email with a link to download all of Koma Zedeste(sp) album, I haven't had a chance to really listen to it all.

-Tausi Melek ib Tiri be(correct me if I used wrong spelling or doesnt' make sense)

Come on - I know it takes time to upload all those images...

Thank you for putting them up!

I'll check out Ezdi.info... There is Mala Ezidiyan - which is based in Germany, where they have a large community... They have a live chat! :D I will invite you as soon as I find back to it - and I'll PM when I do...

And no - that sentence didn't make much sense to me, sorry...

No I'm pretty sure Hesen Şerîf is Êzidî... I'll check it out - but I am very very sure that's what he is... Oh no wait a minute... In his song: Beyta Laleş, he sings "We" - so he includes himself... The song basically is as you said a tribute to Êzidî religion - but he sings "We preserved our language and religion" - so he wouldn't sing that as a Muslim... There we go - that one's in the bag!

well I will have to take your word for it, because I can't understand much words in Kurmanci:'(

I was trying to say Melek Taus be with you, my friend told me how to say this, but I forgot. Kurmaci is a hard language to learn.

OH :D But of course I would have understood it had it not been for you messing up the "bi" in the first part... :) But I was trying to read it in English pronounciation...

Here is how it should be:

Kirmancî: "Tawisê Melek bi tere be"
English pro.: "Thaaw'se Malak b tara ba" :)

But you are German, right? So in German pronounciation: "Tawöse Melek be tere be"

By the way - I didn't know untill like a week ago that you are German... Very nice! :D Das ist sehr gut mein freund! Ich spreche ein bischen deutch aber nicht so gut wie eine deutcher spracht! :P Sorry for the spellings!

I am German this is true, unfortunately my granpa never taught my Dad German for fear that they would think my Dad was a Nazi. My granpa was in the states durring WWII, and I am sure people treated him personally as America's enemy. People can be so prejudice and stupid... Sorry what did you say?

I just said "That is very good my friend! I speak some German, but not as good as a German speaks (German)"... :)

I am sorry to hear that...

But do you know what I thought when I read that about your grandfather not teaching your father German to not be associated with the Nazi?

I thought about the thousands of Kurdish families which don't teach Kurdish to their children in Turkey's Kurdistan - because they are afraid of being associated with the PKK and with separatism and therefore be discriminated against - in the schools, universities, job marked etc...

It's an effective means of ethnic cleansing... That's what it is... :(

If you go to Laleş and Badînan (the province which in Laleş is situated) you'll find that many have been assimilated... Not just Êzidî - but also Muslim Kurds... They use SO many Arabic words in their speech... It's all because they only had Arabic education in schools because of Saddam - and then at home they would speak a broken Kurdish - and mix in words they learned at school... :S

Same with everywhere else in Kurdistan - because we have no educational institutions... Except thank Xuda we do now have something in Southern Kurdistan - which will, hopefully, rub over on the rest! :)

I'm off to bed now - take care and have a pleasent evening...

Pleasure as always my friend! :)

This is the video I made for a song called Melek Taus by Therion. They are really good opera/progressive band. They sing mostly about indigenious religions and cultures.
