The Kirkuk Health Office has banned the use of electric cigarettes in the province, and anyone violating this decision will be sued.
The director of the community health department of the Kirkuk Health Office, Burhan Omer Rashid told Kirkuk Now “As we received documentation and studies from the Iraqi Ministry of Health regarding the harms of the electric cigarettes, we immediately banned the sale and use of the products in the province.”
“Research has shown that the electric cigarettes are addictive and smoking one unit is equivalent to a shishe or a pack of ordinary cigarettes,” he added.
He also addressed the fact that that they have formed committees and surveillance teams to confiscate the products in the marketplaces.
