Iraqi Kurdistan elite gives Minister of Resources two weeks

Iraqi Kurdistan’s intellectuals, journalists and academics launched on Thursday May 2, a campaign to improve quality and reduce gas prices; threatening to expand their campaign and continue their pressure until the Minister of Natural Resources is dismissed in case their demands haven’t been met in 2 weeks.

“Today, in Arbil, we have launched a lobbying campaign against the Ministry of Natural Resources with the contribution of intellectuals, journalists and academics”, said the campaign organizer, Alan Al Saheb Qiran, in a statement to Alsumaria. He revealed that “the campaign demands solving the gas crisis by improving quality and reducing prices”.

“The campaign demanded that gas prices be reduced by 200 Dinars per liter and its quality be improved”, added Qiran, pointing out that “they hope that relevant authorities respond to their demands in less than 2 weeks”.

“In case our demands weren’t met our lobbying campaign will be expanded until the Minister of Natural Resources is dismissed”, clarified Qiran, calling upon Kurdistan’s government to “support the citizens in solving gas problems in the region”.

“Hours after our movement started gas prices witnessed a noticeable decrease”, pointed out Qiran, stressing that “this was a clear proof that influential authorities manipulate the carburant market and its prices”.

Kurdistan region’s provinces witnessed in the past few days a 50% increase in gas prices, as the cost of one liter of gas amounted to 1 Dollar. This pushed many drivers to demonstrate and demand a drastic solution to the expensive gas prices.

عادة بنزين لاتنقل من المصفي الى بعد الركود في الخزان واخراج الماء من الدرين-- ولما تصل الموزع كمان لاتباع الى بعد الدرين ---- وفي الاسبوع الفايت قمت بالتعبأ في موزع قرب مخزن الفواله القديم بالسليمانية --- وبالنتيجة تخرب فيد بمب واخراج البنزين 8 مرات وذالك لعدم وجود كاك الدرين في خزان السيارة . وبعد توبة ان اعبي هكذا بنزين مع الماء والديزل والان تبت من وكعة بنزين مخلوط
