Turkish fighters conduct intelligence flights over Iraqi Kur

PostAuthor: Aslan » Fri May 31, 2013 9:49 pm

Two Turkish RF-4 chase planes conducted exploratory flights over the territory of Iraq's Kurdish autonomy, the website of the Armed Forces of Turkey reported on Friday.
The aim was to identify any groups of members of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party which left Turkish territory.
Imprisoned PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan previously called on members of the organisation to lay down arms and leave the country.
Turkish authorities in turn promised to create conditions for a safe exit from the country for all PKK militants who laid down the arms.
Turkey's conflict with the PKK which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state has continued for more than 25 years and claimed more than 40,000 lives. PKK is recognised as a terrorist organisation by the United Nations and the European Union.

Obviously Turkey want to identify the routes taken by the fighters to prevent them from re-entering using those same routes X(
