‘BeLEAVE in Britain!’ Rupert Murdoch’s Sun backs Brexit as ‘Leave’ takes poll lead :ymparty:

The Sun newspaper is urging its readers to vote ‘Leave’ and free Britain from “dictatorial Brussels,” delivering a major boost to Brexiteers just nine days before the EU referendum.

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch’s flagship tabloid is running the headline ‘BeLEAVE in Britain’ with a front-page editorial saying a divorce will “make Britain even greater.”

Britain’s biggest selling daily newspaper says: “Throughout our 43-year membership of the European Union it has proved increasingly greedy, wasteful, bullying and breathtakingly incompetent in a crisis.”

The Sun has not got an election result wrong since the 1970s.

The newspaper, which is seen to have been openly Euroskeptic for the last 40 years, declares remaining in the EU would be “worse for immigration, worse for jobs, worse for wages and worse for our way of life.”

The editorial comes amid growing concern among ‘Remain’ campaigners that momentum is building for the Brexit campaign, with recent polls putting a ‘Leave’ vote ahead.

A YouGov poll for the Times (also Murdoch owned) put Brexit at 46 percent and Remain at 39 percent, while an ORB poll for the Daily Telegraph put Brexit on 49 percent and Remain on 48 percent.

Neither of the right-leaning broadsheets has directly urged readers to reject staying in the EU, unlike the Sun, which is telling readers to “correct a huge and historic mistake.”

Its editorial says: “If we stay, Britain will be engulfed in a few short years by this relentlessly expanding German dominated federal state. For all [Prime Minister] David Cameron’s witless assurances, our powers and values WILL be further eroded.

“Greece is bankrupt. Italy is in danger of going the same way, with even more disastrous consequences. In Spain, 45 percent of those under 25 are out of work.

“The Remain campaign, made up of the corporate establishment, arrogant europhiles and foreign banks, have set out to terrify us all about life outside the EU.

“Their ‘Project Fear’ strategy predicts mass unemployment, soaring interest rates and inflation, plummeting house prices, even world war.

“Nonsense! Years ago the same politicians and economists issued apocalyptic predictions about our fate if we didn’t join the euro. Thank God we stopped that.”

The Sun haven’t got an election result wrong since the 70’s. If you don’t want Brexit, you really are going to have to get out and vote.
— Emma Kennedy (@EmmaKennedy) June 14, 2016

It’s expected other national titles, such as the Daily Mail, the Daily Express and the Daily Telegraph, will follow the Sun’s lead in the coming days, according to the Financial Times.

The newspaper says the Guardian and the Mirror are likely to come out supporting ‘Bremain.’

The damage already started. Today stock market lost over £20.00billion market value. House prices also started crashing. If we leave EU, The economy will crash and the market stagnate. A serious recession will take place and last for at least years. We may lose free education as well as free medical care.

Disagree with you entirely :D

There is a lot of scaremongering mostly by the government because when we leave EU our PM will be forced to step down :ymparty:

Polls show increasing support for Brexit; Murdoch's Sun backs 'Leave'

LONDON Britain's "Leave" campaign opened up a 7-point lead over "Remain" ahead of a referendum on membership of the European Union an opinion poll showed late Monday, while the nation's biggest-selling newspaper urged readers to vote to quit the bloc.

The result of the June 23 referendum will have far-reaching consequences for politics, the economy, defense, migration and diplomacy in Britain and elsewhere.

Recent polls are suggesting that momentum has swung towards the "Leave" camp, or a so called Brexit, unsettling investors. "Leave" in recent days has focused its campaign on the issue of immigration.

According to the YouGov poll for The Times, "Leave" held 46 percent support compared with 39 percent support for "Remain." Undecided voters were 11 percent, while 4 percent won't vote.

Last Monday The Times/YouGov had reported a 1 percent lead for the "Remain" campaign.

In another, though not unexpected, boost for "Leave," media tycoon Rupert Murdoch's Sun newspaper called on its readers to vote to quit the 28-member EU.

"The Sun urges everyone to vote Leave. We must set ourselves free from dictatorial Brussels," said the tabloid, which has a circulation of 1.7 million.

Other polls published on Monday also put "Leave" ahead, while betting odds on Brexit narrowed.

An ORB poll for The Daily Telegraph put support for "Leave" at 49 percent, compared with Remain's 48 percent, while two ICM polls, one online and one conducted by telephone, found "Out" held 53 percent support compared with 47 percent support for "In," the Guardian newspaper, which sponsored the telephone poll said.

That compared with a 52-48 percent split in favor of "Out" in ICM polls two weeks ago, the Guardian said. Those polls excluded respondents who answered "don't know."

A poll published on Friday which gave "Out" a 10 percentage-point lead added to pressure on sterling and pushed the cost of hedging against huge swings in the exchange rate to record highs [GBP/].

ICM said it interviewed 1,000 adults by telephone and 2,001 adults online between June 10 and 13.

Including people who said they did not know how they would vote, the telephone poll showed 50 percent of people backed "Out," 45 percent supported "In," and 5 percent were classed as "don't know", ICM said.

The online poll showed "Out" leading "In" by 49 percent to 44 percent with 7 percent saying they did not know how to vote.

Both polls showed falls in the share of "don't knows," ICM said.

"As we close on referendum day, evidently minds are being made up," ICM director Martin Boon said in a statement.

Opinion pollsters are under pressure because they failed to forecast both Prime Minister David Cameron's unexpectedly decisive election victory and the result of Israel's election last year.

I think we will leave for sentimental reasons, not for logical reasons. We are all going to pay for it heavily. This has nothing to do with scare mongering. All leaders of industry and economy are worried about leaving because the economic cost is going to be very high.

The business leaders who support remaining in EU are those with political connections

Most leaders such as Dyson want to leave EU

Cannot remember figures off hand but sometime like 90% of UK business is done through small businesses and they want to leave in order to expand into an ever increasing worldwide marketplace

Boss of one of the biggest company in the entire world is based in UK, trades worldwide, sees no problems in leaving EU and expects to double his profits over next few years :ymapplause:

Some say leaving will prevent skilled people such as doctors coming here - we have a friend who is a surgeon and he has been trying to come here for past 2 years without sucess

Leaving EU will enable us to tap into worldwide employee base

For years UK hospitals have been staffed with caring black nurses from the commonwealth

NOT NOW

Because of EU the UK has turned our back on the commonwealth countries

Commonwealth countries consist of people who came to UK and fought with us in WW2

Commonwealth countries came to UK to help the rebuilding of UK after the war

Commonwealth countries are not in EU so because of EU we now have very little trade with them

We tell Kurds to take a pride in their culture

People in UK not allowed to take pride in their culture because they are called racist

Many football fans who fly England flag are told to remove them because it might offend non-English people

UK people - as with Kurdish people - deserve their country and their self respect

Kurds do not want to be ruled by Turkey, Iraq, Syria or Iran

UK does not want to be ruled by Europe

All the small businesses will lose a lot or go out of business completely. Because they depend on big businesses operating in EU market.

You have misunderstood the question of immigration. When we talk about immigration as a problem, we mean immigration from Commonwealth and other countries outside EU. There is no problem with the immigration from EU, Australia, USA and Canada. These countries have cultural compatibility but not commonwealth and other countries outside EU.

It is good for Robert Murdokh that UK leaves EU because this will ensure his sky tv remains safe from competition by EU TV companies in future.

For the Dyson company, it doesn't make sense. It is sentimental, not logical.

As a retired person, I will lose my heating allowance at least and the revenue from my EU lodgers. This may be compensated from increased business from my removal business. Because a lot of people have to move around because of unemployment and mortgage default. Property value crashes and goes to negative equity.
Millions lose their jobs and homes.

Additionally, we lose Scotland and peace in N. Irland. We will become like a third developing country.
We need at least 5 years of hardship. At the end, we end up like Scandinavian countries. We have to pay subscription to trade with EU without having any saying or getting back anything as it is now.

In Kurdistan we have a saying about things like the land of milk and honey outside EU. We say: 'کەرە مەتۆپە، بەهار نزيکە'= 'Jack Ass don't die from starvation, Spring is approaching'. :))

UK does not want to be ruled by Europe

I would like that EU rules France. Unfortunately, EU is weak because of national leaders' short view and selfishness. I would prefer a true European Empire.

EU doesn't rule UK now because UK has a fair share of its representation. But if we leave, it will rule us if we like it or not. It would e the only way to do business with EU. EU can do without us but we can not do without EU.

I doubt that UK bases its laws on EU, even France or Germany did not.

Generally when a law or rule is praised by people, national leaders take the tribute for themselves. When it makes people angry, the same say :"it is not our decision, but EU rules". I am not sure that citizens have a clear idea of what EU decided or not in their own life.

One of the consequence of a BREXIT could be the common language used in Brussels institutions : now it is English but German could be the winner.

If UK leaves, Germany will have the heavier economical weigh, so we could talk German… I don't care I love German language. But many Europeans would have triggers remembering nazi era

EU needs to find a common language emancipated than USA/UK influence : French is too complicated to learn for people. There were serious talks about Latin (I would love that). But Greeks would protest (Greece is a such failure in EU that no one would listen to them).

Or we could draw lots among the EU countries languages. It would be funny to learn Maltese or Finnish… :p

I know nothing about the link between UeE and housing price (In France, it is expansive, especially in Paris, in any case, but no one says it is because of UE, more because of national rules). I just found this on BBC :

By the way what are the opinions of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland about the Brexit ? Are they more or less pro EU than England ?
