Well, true,

the restaurant unfortunately have been replaced by fast food...in most places, but it is not different unfortunately from most countries.
You remember "L'aille ou la cuisse" with Louis de Funes (I recently watched it...loved and still ove his movies...) anyways, the tendency has appened everywhere. When I was in france this fall, try to go out to a restaurant and the only F..ing we have anymore are pizzeria, or some chain where you can eat Steak Frites or Moule Frite. It's boring.

Lunch is the worst, everyone now is only eating jambon-beurre...it is sad!
I was walking down my brother and you'd see EVERYONE with a baguette and jambon-beurre...

You can still find some "cuisine traditionelle" or "gastronomie" (traditional cuisine or gourmet) but I could afford it with my american salary, all my friends would only go to "pizerria ceasar or other crapy barbecue place" or Grill place.

Dilshad... In Europe they strangle/drown (or something else which goes fast and doesn't cost too much) the animals... They don't waste bullets on them...

And you only said what I said about something being Helal... Reciting a prayer - and making the animal bite it's tounge - and turning it's head towards the Qutbe (Mecca) - and cutting over the throat - ALL THE WAY - to cut of the nerve system link to the brain... And Dilshad - you tie it's feet so that it won't look barbaric... And you make it bite it's tounge for the same reason... Painful or not... It looks decent and honorable - you spend time thanking God, and you show respect the animal respect...

have you ever seen or participated in an animal slaughtering?

I have when I was a kid, and it is not really pleasant, it's quite traumatic.
The animal is scared and believe me they know they're going to be killed...they can smell the blood of other animal that were slaughtered right before them...
And this is also true in the west...

Now, I can agree with you that when a person would do it at home, it would be "more human". But anymore, we have slaughter houses. DO you really think those guys who have to slaughter 1000s of animal a day will take their sweetlittle time to get the animal to bite it's tongue (which I don't really know what it achieve, may be you can explain), and cut the throat all around. Most of the time, they only make a cut and let the animal bleed to death.

No?

Last time I saw it was four years back... I have participated in it a lot of times - and eveytime, they did it with great decency...

And they only make feather aimals - like chicken, turkey, goose etc. bite their tounge - The only explenation I have for this is that they do it to open up it's mouth so that blood will flood freely out if one doesn't cut off the whole throat...

But anymore, we have slaughter houses. DO you really think those guys who have to slaughter 1000s of animal a day will take their sweetlittle time to get the animal to bite it's tongue (which I don't really know what it achieve, may be you can explain), and cut the throat all around.

That is besides the point here... Helal means Helal... If people do slaughter half-heartedly - not taking time to recite the prayer and not tie it's feet together - they are not doing it Helal... So this is besides the point...

YOu're right, chicken and other poultry are not "too traumatic", ...
I unfortunately have seen some lamb, goat, even cow being slughtered...
And it is not pretty to see.
In one of them, the knife wasn't sharp enough...and man just going back to it, makes me and actually made me become vegeterian for long years...

I agree with your point that if someone doesn't folow the ritual, then it is not helal...
